What is BTI?

Anchor Point’s Biblical Training Institute is a 3-year discipleship pathway designed to help equip disciples in their biblical and theological competency and confidence. Our goal is not just information but transformation of men and women to be equipped proclaimers of the gospel and disciple makers. We believe the church should train its future leaders, or at least have a clear and effective pathway for that to occur. The Biblical Training Institute  (BTI) helps accomplish this.

Breaking down the three-year journey:

Year 1: Foundations (First Tuesday of each month, 7-9 pm). Foundations teaches the essentials of the Gospel, of the content of Scripture, and how to study to apply Scripture for everyday life. Foundations consists of three courses that work in harmony with each other. We’d like everyone to complete Foundations.

Course #1: “What is the Gospel?”
This course is designed to help believers strengthen their understanding of the Gospel. What is the Gospel? How is the Gospel related to the eternal plan of God? What does the Gospel mean to each believer in their day to day life?

Course #2: “Bible Survey, A Big Screen Perspective”
Is a whole Bible survey and summary that puts the pieces of Scripture together allowing you to see both the big picture and small details.

Course #3: “How to Read the Bible”
Emphasizes the most effective tools, principles, and processes for moving from the sound reading of the Scriptures to application.

Year 2: Academy (Third Tuesday of each month, 7-9 pm). Academy teaches you biblical theology with an emphasis on how biblical theology informs our everyday practical lives and links this to local and global missions.

Course #1: “Understanding Theology.”

We all have a theology, a set of beliefs, but many are not able to articulate them or really understand them. This class will walk you through a basic biblical understanding of God and his Word, his attributes that he shares with humanity and those that he does not, human beings and our sin, the person and work of Jesus, the Holy Spirit, and the teachings on salvation, the Church, and the end of all things.

Course #2: “Essentials of Missions–Local & Global.”

This course examines key Scriptural passages in both the Old and New Testaments that relate to the mission of the church and addresses key theological and cultural challenges that the church faces in proclaiming the gospel and establishing culturally relevant and viable churches, including mission strategy, the role of forging global partnerships, and the need to focus on church planting. Throughout the course, the emphasis is on practical ways the church can be more effective in ministering cross-culturally and fulfilling the Great Commission.

Year 3: Institute (Coming Fall 2023). Institute is designed specifically for people wanting a graduate-level education seeking to become involved in full-time vocational ministry.
